Black-necked Stilts
Today!
Spring in Southern California!
Hello everyone,
I took a little break from photography to concentrate on a few important issues but I’m back in time for the start of Spring in my area of Southern California. The shorebirds are starting to mate and it is so rewarding to capture the Avocets and Stilts with beautiful plumage colors and in all sorts of poses. I will try to record some of those and post as time permits. Here are a few that I have been able to process recently:
Today’s Photo
At the beach!
I went to the beach yesterday. It was a clear day and there were some interesting clouds that I taught would look nice if the lighting was right. I was not disappointed except that I did not take a tripod and I had to work with a single shot exposed for the highlights and then pulling out details from the shadows. I decided to leave in the fisherman in the far left.

Here is another image from Bolsa Chica Ecological Preserve.
I have some time for shooting but the weather isn’t going to be the best for the next few days.

Winter Waterfowl Season has started!
Hi everyone,
I’m very excited that waterfowl are increasing in numbers in the last couple of weeks. These images were taken yesterday at Bolsa Chica Ecological Preserve in Southern California.
